When we're disappointed, it's because we had expectations. Often we don't realize we had expectations to begin with, but we can use disappointment as a key to discover how we do that. Expectations keep us locked in rigid ways of thinking and very often keep us miserable. They keep us stuck in our careers and every other aspect of our lives. It is when we begin to open more to possibilities that we start to experience freedom, and discovering when and how we set up expectations enables us to do that.
What kind of expectations do you have for yourself? For others? For your plans today? Are you aware of them? If you are disappointed by something today, look back at what your expectations were that weren't fulfilled. Think back to other times that you've been disappointed and the expectations you had set up around them. Consider welcoming disappointment as an opportunity to discover how you set expectations up for yourself and a key to a more open pathway for yourself and your success.
