Are you, as a woman, aware of the strength that lies within you? Are you aware of the creativity that is your birthright? Are you aware of the power you have to shape your community, whether that be your family or your social network or your community at large? And if you are aware of it, are you utilizing it?
We women have been gifted with so much. Women, statistically, have a larger corpus callosum than men. A larger what? The corpus callosum is the part of the brain that connects the left and right sides of the brain. The right side, in general, is associated with creativity, the left with logical thinking. Women have larger ones, in general than men. That's why women are able to multitask so well.
Women, too, are deeply connected with the second chakra, the hara, the creative center. This makes sense. We are the ones who give birth. The second chakra is the womb. It is innately "in us" to nurture...It is innately "in us" to nurture and protect our young. It is innately "in us" to nurture our communities. It is innately "in us" to nurture ourselves.
Women have strong intuition. This arises from both our ability to connect logically with our right brain and our connection with our creative center, the second chakra. Unfortunately, we have been taught to minimize this.
How many women love their stomachs? It isn't really our stomach we have an issue with - the actual stomach is above the lovely curve that you call your stomach - what we have an issue with is our lower abdomen - yep, you guessed it, our creative center. And, because we live in a "logical" world, we also tend to reject our right brain, the part that works with our second chakra to maximize our intuition. And this rejection - or intimidation - affects not only us but our community, because women are about community.
Times are changing. Women are taking a more and more dominant place in society as time progresses. And with our presence in the marketplace, in political circles, in leadership in general, it is time for us to reclaim what our true gift to society is - our ability to connect with our right brain, with our creative center, and with our left brain, our knowledge. For centuries, women have been ruled off as "sensitive," "emotional," and all sorts of other things. This is because of discomfort with the right brain. But women are also very comfortable in the left brain. It's time to connect the two.
Are you comfortable in who you are as a woman? Are you aware of the gifts you have, of your innate abilities that are yours just by the fact that you were born female? With gifts come responsibilities. Whom are you nurturing? It starts with you. If you're not nurturing you, you can't nurture others. Not fully, at least.
Today, I encourage you to think about your life as a woman. What sets you apart? What gifts do you have to offer the world? How do you honor your body? How do you honor your intuition in your life? Everyone has intuition, women "feel" it more naturally. It doesn't really need to be defined because there is a part in each of us that responds instinctively when we hear the word - we know it intimately, on a deep level.
And so today, I ask you, my sisters: What is your intuition telling you about your life, and are you listening?
